Blended Learning Platforms & Student Requirement
Blended Learning:
The Harper Woods School District has implemented a system where teachers are able to connect to technology and personalized learning to a strong and focused lesson design. The District has created personalized learning environment through the following academic methods:
  • Technology-based learning
  • Virtual Classrooms (Google, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, etc.)
  • Embedded instructional designs
  • One-on-one academic guidance (general ed. & specialized services)

Virtual Learning:
Under Section 5-O-D office of MDE the Harper Woods School District will allow students to enroll in up to two virtual courses during an academic term, semester, or trimester. A pupil may enroll in more than two virtual courses if:
  • The district has determined that it is in the best interest of the pupil
  • The pupil agrees with the recommendation of the districts
  • The district, in collaboration with the pupil, has developed an education development plan, in a form and manner specified by the Department, which is kept on file by the district
Live Simulcast Learning:
Simulcast training in the Harper Woods School District will allow students to attend a live training event from the convenience of their own computer. The District Simulcast Learning Platform will consist of the academic M6 Model:
  • Debate
  • PowerPoint Presentation
  • Writing Clusters
  • Note-taking
  • Oral Presentation
  • Graphic Organizer
  • Real-time live instruction from multiple technologies
Career and Technical Education (CTE):
The mission Career and Technical Education is to prepare students so they have the necessary academic, technical, and work behavior skills to enter, compete, and advance in education and their careers. These programs also provide students the opportunity to:
  • Earn college credit while in secondary CTE programs
  • Participate in Work-based learning opportunities (non-paid & paid)
  • Earn a certificate of completion as a CTE Concentrator or CTE Completer
  • Earn an industry certification in their chosen program area
Dual Enrollment:
Dual enrollment is the act of being enrolled in two different academic institutions at once. For high school students, this typically means being enrolled simultaneously in their local high school and a nearby college institution. The most significant benefit of dual enrollment is that students can take steps toward earning their high school diploma and their college diploma at the same time.
